Using gOS for the First Time

Last week I have my Windows XP infected with a dozen malware again. This time it is even worse as I can't even start my Windows XP in safe mode which is essential to clean up the malware. I am so frustrated that I want to get rid of Microsoft Windows. I remember I read an article in a magazine about a Linux distribution called gOS. Some people thought it is Google OS but it is not. However, I would like to give it a try as I am a big fan of anything related to Google. I went to the official site thinkgos.com and I found the the screen shots of the GUI very impressive. Since I don't use MySpace, so I try the distribution of gOS Rocket G instead of the gOS Space. I didn't try gOS Rocket E as Wikipedia says it lacks some of the important features.

As you can see in the screen shot above, it is so much different from the screen shots in most reviews of gOS, for example here. The dock at the bottom of the screen is missing. This is because Avant Windows Navigator can not start as one of the requirement which is a composited environment is not supported by my display, probably because of the small amount of RAM (256MB) or old display card of ATI Mobility.

Fortunately I can just add all the Icons that are supposed to be in the docks to the top panel. This is the first blog I have prepared in Firefox in this gOS and I am very happy using it.
